An Article About Angren Miners Published in a Russian Journal
Publication date: 09.10.2025 10:35:14The international Russian journal “Globus: Geology and Business” (October 2025, No. 4) has published a feature article by journalist Diana Andreeva titled “They Work in the Dark.”
The article highlights the work of JSC “O‘zbekko‘mir”’s “Coal Mining by Shaft Method” branch, the dedication of Angren miners, and operations at the new “Bremsberg No. 9” site.
It provides insight into the history of the Angren mine, founded in 1948, today’s production processes, and the miners’ daily lives. The author vividly depicts the responsibility, courage, and devotion of geologists and miners to their profession.
The material includes details about the 61,611 tons of coal extracted in 2024, as well as the contributions of skilled engineers and miners — Jamol Alimqulov, Alisher Maqsudov, Ruzmat Shukurov, and Yadgar Sattarov.
The article concludes on a philosophical note: before descending underground, miners say not “Good luck,” but “May God help us.” This expression reflects both the dangers of their work and their respect and gratitude toward nature.
