Angren is the center of Uzbekistan's coal industry!
Publication date: 13.06.2025 12:40:11Today, June 13 — marks the official founding of Angren, a city rich in coal reserves, industrial strength, and honorable history.
On this day in 1946, the settlement "Angrenshaxtstroy" was granted the status of a regionally subordinated city — Angren.
The development of Angren is closely linked to the coal industry:
▪️ In the early 20th century, the rediscovery of brown coal reserves laid the foundation for industrial growth.
▪️ In 1940, the “Tashkent–Stalinko‘mir” coal administration was established.
▪️ In 1942, the first 30 tons of coal from Angren mines were shipped to workshops in Tashkent.
▪️ From 1946 onward, the large-scale construction of Angren city began.
With the efforts of geologists, engineers, miners, and youth, residential areas, production facilities, railways, and social infrastructure were built.
Angren — the cradle of “Uzbekko‘mir” JSC, remains a key hub of Uzbekistan’s coal industry today.
Happy birthday, Angren!
